The Community Kitchen
At midday in the seminary Commons, the Community Kitchen feeds around 100 people of all backgrounds, incomes, faiths, and social positions. Five days a week, year-round the kitchen welcomes people to nourish their bodies and their spirits.
Staffed by volunteers from local churches and the seminary, the ministry is sponsored by Community Action House and Western Seminary. Students are encouraged to volunteer for this ministry.
The Bridge
Located just a few blocks from Western's campus, The Bridge is an unusual specialty store - a Christian imports store staffed entirely by volunteers. The Bridge merchandise is purchased from cooperatives of artisans around the world who depend on their work for economic survival.
Because The Bridge bypasses importers and operates with minimal overhead, it can offer reasonably priced handmade goods to shoppers and insure a fair return to the artisans who make them.
