Why Western for Distance Learning
You've been called to ministry. But you have a job, a family, and a mortgage. You feel the call, but you can't just pick up and move. Western's online Master of Divinity program allows you to stay where you are while earning your degree.
The distance learning M.Div. is the same rigorous curriculum residential students experience, and you'll study with the same dedicated faculty who love teaching and enjoy taking the time to know you.
Hear for Yourself
You can stop now and take our word for it. Or, you can watch flash video to hear what actual distance learning M.Div. students and faculty have to say about the program.
Community
Our emphasis on community sets us apart from other seminaries offering distance learning. You'll form relationships with peers and faculty, all of whom are deeply committed to helping nurture you for effective pastoral ministry.
In addition, the distance-learning program features Intensives. An Intensive is a two-week period in the middle of the semester when students meet on campus. You'll spend time with other students and faculty members, and immerse yourself in your classes. Many students compare the Intensive to a retreat because they spend two weeks together learning from each other, talking about the program, and discussing each other's desire for ministry.
Western is more than an M. Div. degree; it's a community. It's a challenge.
DL M. Div. Program will challenge you academically and spiritually
There are those who think that because a degree program is offered in an online format that the classes, schedule and assignments are less demanding. With this program, you will find that the curriculum and tenured professors are the same as the residential program, providing consistent academic demand. You can expect to spend 15-20 hours a week (or more) learning, studying and participating in discussion boards.
The spiritual atmosphere that is created online will also challenge you. The discussions you will have with peers and professors will expand your biblical knowledge and cultivate your faith as you prepare for a career in ministry.
