Jeff and April Fiet

Jeff - From the time I accepted Christ as my Savior, I felt a calling to be involved in ministry, but it took me a while to realize that His call would require me to attend seminary. Around the time that I began to realize it, I met a wonderful woman named April whom I began to date (and eventually marry). We began to attend church together. The interim minister who was serving that RCA church encouraged me to consider seminary. When I told him I was, he recommended Western. Soon after, April and I sat down and watched Western's promotional video. We were sold. Now, nearly five years later, here we are.

April - While my husband was talking about seminary, I had no idea that God was leading me there as well. I was intent on getting a job and supporting my husband in his education in the most practical sense  financially. However, the job search was unproductive and several conversations with WTS Admissions Director Mark Poppen helped me realize that God was also calling me to seminary. Now that I have finished my first year at Western, I cannot imagine what life would have been like had God not called Jeff and me to share this together.

Being at Western Theological Seminary has been challenging and exciting. The Master of Divinity program challenges students mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, but we believe that through this experience we will become better people, better Christians, and better ministers. WTS is a close community, in which students, faculty and staff know one another by name and take time to pray with and for one another. As God continues to work out his plans in our lives, we look forward with eagerness to where God will lead after our time at seminary is complete.
