Western has had an important impact on my life. During my first year, the greatest thing I learned is this: I should never apologize for the call God has placed in my life. With a faculty and staff eager to share their wisdom and experience, and with classmates equally eager to challenge beliefs and affirm my gifts I find myself growing into my faith and into my calling in ways I never dreamed. - Sarah Hoogendoorn
After 7 years of Campus Ministry primarily at Western Michigan University, I was given a 12-month sabbatical from full-time ministry with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship where I currently serve as the Coordinator of Black Campus Ministries for MI, OH, PA &
WVA. God led me to spend that year pursuing an M.Div at WTS. What became clear to me right away was that I had a lot to learn! WTS came to represent a place where I was challenged to think outside of the box about issues of faith, both essential and non-essential. I learned to appreciate the doctrines and disciplines of the Reformed Church of America as they helped to me grow deeper in my faith in several new and life-giving ways. It is with great joy that I am now pursuing ordination in the RCA! WTS was a safe place and a fun learning enviroment and I am thankful to God for providing me with such a wonderful gift

For me, the treasure of studying for an MDiv is being surrounded by brilliant people who love to wrestle with same questions and who have a wealth of life experience and biblical knowledge--which they are eager to share. Whether or not I become a pastor, I'm happy to have bathed for a time in this wisdom and intelligence. - Andrew Spidahl
Having a community that embraces us as a couple while also valuing our unique personhood has defined our time at Western Seminary. As lovers of the Church, we have been grateful to find conversation partners in history, theology, art, culture and philosophy. In short, we have found a good home here at Western. - Noah and Kristen Livingston
