12:00 noon - Special luncheons for the graduates of 1954, 1958, 1968, and 1983

  • 1954 - Room 101 across from the receptionist
  • 1958 - 6th Floor of the library
  • 1968 - Garden Level of the Atrium - north end
  • 1983 - Garden Level of the Atrium - south end

2:30-3:30pm - Lecture by Dr. Mark Noll, Francis McAnaney Professor of History at Notre Dame University.  He is widely regarded as one of the finest historians of American church history.

5:00pm - Annual Alumni/ae Dinner in Maas Center of Hope College (pre-registration required). Distinguished Alum Awards will be presented to The Rev. Dr. I. John Hesselink '53 and The Rev. Frederick (Fritz) Kruithof '64.

7:30pm - The 132nd Commencement of Western Theological Seminary, to be held in Dimnent Chapel on Hope College's campus. A reception for graduates will follow on the lawn between Dimnent and the seminary (inside the seminary in case of rain).

1981 WTS Graduate elected Bishop

The Episcopal Diocese of Maryland has elected its first African American bishop:  the Rev. Canon Eugene Taylor Sutton, a 1981 graduate of Western Theological Seminary.

Hope College to honor the Voskuils

April 2, 2008

Hope College is awarding honorary degrees to Dr. Dennis Voskuil and Betty Voskuil in recognition of the couple’s long-time and distinguished service to the Reformed Church in America.

On Sunday, May 4 they will each receive the Doctor of Humane Letters (L.H.D.) degree during the 9:30 a.m. Baccalaureate service held in conjunction with the college’s graduation activities in Dimnent Memorial Chapel. They will jointly deliver the sermon during both the 9:30 a.m. service and the 11:30 a.m. service.
