Worship at Western Theological Seminary is daily, meaningful, and integrated with the learning programs.
Gathered around the table and font, we celebrate the real presence of the triune God in the breaking of the bread, the pouring of wine, and the cleansing waters of baptism.
This experience of God’s presence in bread, wine, and water begins to shape our view of God’s presence in the larger world. Seeing God’s glory at the table and font helps us to see God’s glory in the world. A sacramental worldview carries over from the chapel into the classroom where it creates a foundation for understanding more deeply God’s mission in the world.
Every day staff, faculty, and students gather as a community to pray for each other and for the world, to sing and to be silent, to testify to God’s grace and lament the world’s brokenness, to praise and to petition, to proclaim, and to enact the Good News. Every Friday the community celebrates the Lord’s Supper together.
Chapel is also a resource for students to practice crafting sermons and putting together services. Creativity is encouraged as students use their own gifts to speak the Word of God in truth and love.
