About Western Theological Seminary

Located in Holland, Michigan, WTS offers 16 graduate programs online, in residence, in English, and Spanish for women and men preparing for faithful Christian ministry. WTS was founded in 1866 when seven of the eight members of Hope College’s inaugural graduating class wished to become ministers and petitioned their denomination to allow them to complete their education in Holland. Since that time, WTS has been preparing women and men for a lifetime of ministry all around the world in many ministry and denominational contexts.

Western Theological Seminary is pleased to announce Dr. Dana M. Harris’s appointment as the new Professor of New Testament. With over 20 years of experience in New Testament studies, biblical languages, and theological education, Dr. Harris brings profound expertise and a strong commitment to teaching in this role.

I am excited to join the WTS community! I appreciate its generously Reformed tradition and its ecumenical and evangelical ethos. I look forward to collaborating with other faculty and to interacting with students who are preparing for various ministries,” says Dr. Harris.

Most recently, Dr. Harris served as Professor and Department Chair of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where she began teaching Greek in 2001 and joined the faculty in 2006. She has also authored key textbooks on biblical Greek and the book of Hebrews while editing the Trinity Journal since 2010.

Dr. Harris holds a BA from Stanford University (double major in International Relations and French Studies), an MA, and a PhD from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Her research centers on the Epistle to the Hebrews, Book of Revelation, Greek syntax, linguistics, hermeneutics, Second Temple apocalyptic literature, archaeology, and NT backgrounds. Key works include Appropriating Hebrews’s Scriptural Hermeneutic for the Twenty-First Century, co-edited with J. David Stark (New York: T & T Clark, 2025), An Introduction to Biblical Greek Grammar: Elementary Syntax and Linguistics (Zondervan, 2020), Hebrews: Exegetical Guide to the Greek New Testament series (Broadman & Holman, 2017), contributions to the Greek New Testament Study Bible (Zondervan, 2026), the NET Study Bible (Thomas Nelson, forthcoming 2027), and numerous articles and book chapters. She has taught widely in churches, conferences, and overseas settings, and remains active at Church of the Redeemer in Highwood, IL. Prior to academia, she managed the Hoover Digest at Stanford’s Hoover Institution and led a Pew-funded diplomat training program (1990-1995).

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Harris to WTS. She brings a wealth of gifts to us: academic achievement, global experience, a passion for teaching and a pastoral heart. She will deeply enrich and strengthen our community and the church we seek to serve,” said Dr. Keith Starkenburg, Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

At Western Theological Seminary, Dr. Harris will teach New Testament courses, offer classes in Greek language and exegesis, mentor students, and advance research on the book of Revelation and related topics.

Dr. Harris will join the WTS community on July 1, 2026.
