The previous issue of The Commons highlighted our accelerated pastoral degree program with Hope College. As Vita Scholars, students combine some elements of their BA and MDiv degree requirements and can earn both degrees in five or six years.
Now, we’ve expanded! We’re pleased to announce two new partnerships with undergraduate institutions in Northwest Iowa: Dordt University and Northwestern College. Students majoring in Biblical and Theological Studies at either institution can receive advanced standing upon admittance to WTS, earning their MDiv in two years in residence instead of three or more. This will eliminate some redundancy in their coursework, saving students time and money. Dean, and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Keith Starkenberg shares:
“We are excited to enter into these new partnerships with both Dordt University and Northwestern College, both of whom we count as sister institutions dedicated to forming students for the sake of God’s kingdom.”
Rev. Dr. Katlyn DeVries is eager to support these students as they pursue vocations in pastoral ministry. “Young people have such gifts to offer our churches. I look forward to guiding students in our accelerated programs on their journey to pastoral ministry, helping them build the skills and gain the experiences they will need to flourish.”
