About Western Theological Seminary

Located in Holland, Michigan, WTS offers 16 graduate programs online, in residence, in English, and Spanish for women and men preparing for faithful Christian ministry. WTS was founded in 1866 when seven of the eight members of Hope College’s inaugural graduating class wished to become ministers and petitioned their denomination to allow them to complete their education in Holland. Since that time, WTS has been preparing women and men for a lifetime of ministry all around the world in many ministry and denominational contexts.

Western Theological Seminary is pleased to announce our official fall enrollment of 487 students, with year-over-year growth across all degree programs. This is notably higher than our previous high of 433 students and our three-year average of 417.

Since 2019, when we enrolled 335 students, the Seminary’s enrollment has grown by 45 percent.

“Each of these numbers represents an individual who has been called by God to serve the Church through various vocations,” shared President Felix Theonugraha. “We are grateful to be stewards of these lives, and count it a humble privilege to walk alongside them as they are formed for ministry and equipped for a lifetime of faithful service.”

Western Theological Seminary gives thanks to God for His grace and faithfulness and expresses gratitude to its faculty and staff, whose dedicated work reflects a shared commitment to collaboration and a common mission to “form women and men for faithful Christian ministry.”
